There are few German sitcoms compared to other countries because German television tends to focus more on dramas and crime shows, which are more popular with viewers. Additionally, the German sense of humor may not always translate well to the sitcom format, making it challenging to create successful comedy series. Finally, the high production costs and competition from international sitcoms may also contribute to the lack of German sitcoms on television. **

Sitcoms today are often criticized for being bad because they rely on tired and overused tropes, lack originality, and rely too heavily on cheap humor. Many sitcoms also struggle to keep up with the changing cultural landscape and fail to address important social issues in a meaningful way. Additionally, the rise of streaming services and the demand for binge-worthy shows has led to a focus on serialized storytelling, leaving traditional sitcom formats feeling outdated. Overall, the decline in quality of sitcoms today can be attributed to a lack of innovation and a failure to connect with modern audiences. **
